Last week, students in Year 12, who have been working toward their Silver Duke Edinburgh Awards throughout the year, have undertaken their final expedition. Navigating and walking through the lake district, the teams have had to make use of maps and compasses to travel roughly 10 Miles a day for three days, by foot. All the while, students have carried all their kits and belongings on their backs.
Despite the rain at points, spirits have been high amongst the group who have successfully met all of the qualifying conditions and managed to avoid getting lost (most of the time!) Each evening students cooked their meals on open fires and slept in tents under the stars. the finish line was the Cumbrian town of Keswick and our pupils were very, very thankful for a warm shower and a soft bed when they returned home!
