Year 12 spent the day at the University of Sunderland to build and develop their academic skills and have a taster of learning at University level. We were welcomed into the newly updated Murrey Health building where students experienced a lecture on HE Skills, taking a deep dive into critical thinking, testing out the Harvard referencing technique and considering the amount of independent learning needed at Higher Education.
There was a Q&A with a variety of university students who shared their experience the university experience and gave advice to give our students a real insight into what they could be doing in the next 18 months. The afternoon was spent with HE Academics getting to grips with a range of subjects and using some of the fantastic facilities from across the campus, from the immersive Nursing suite, technical Engineering site, Pharmacy laboratories, Law court room, business suite to the Journalism media hub. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and left with much to think about.
