Mr Carney and Mrs Pascoe took their AS Level English Language class to the University of York on Wednesday 10th June. They spent the day in the Department of Language and Linguistic Science, taking part in a variety of taster sessions and gaining an insight into life on campus.
Students engaged with interactive lectures and workshops led by university staff, exploring key areas of linguistics such as language variation, discourse analysis, and how language is used in real-world contexts. They also had the opportunity to ask questions about studying at degree level, including course structure, assessment methods, and possible career pathways linked to English Language and Linguistics.
The visit also included a tour of the university campus, where students were able to experience the academic environment first-hand, including lecture theatres, study spaces, and student facilities. This gave them a clearer understanding of what university life is like beyond the classroom.
The students represented our school brilliantly throughout the visit, showing enthusiasm, curiosity, and excellent conduct at all times.
