5th January 2016
Dear Parent/Carer
As we begin the final full term of year 13, we are looking at how best to support all students in the run up to the most important exams of their school career. Previously, we have allowed year 13 students to have some measure of freedom on a Wednesday, but it is increasingly clear that those who chose to come in on Wednesdays are achieving far higher grades in their assessments.
We are therefore asking all year 13 to attend school for the normal hours of 8.40am – 2.15pm on a Wednesday. As on other days, they are free to go out for their lunch. We have arranged a series of interventions for students on a Wednesday, as well as space to work independently.
In addition, from the 20th January until February half term, every Wednesday students will sit a mock exam at 9.00 a.m. to help with their preparation.
This is compulsory. Students with a poor attendance record may not be entered for all their exams, and may not be eligible for prom tickets.
I appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Yours faithfully
Sammy Wright
Director of Sixth Form
