Year 12 and 13 French students took part in a special virtual online lecture for A-Level students from the British Film Institute (BFI) in London. The lecture covered an important part of their A Level course and looked at French New Wave and Contemporary Cinema. It was delivered entirely in French by Muriel Huet, a Lead Educator at the BFI. Students had the opportunity to watch short clips from four very influential French films, two from the New Wave period and two from modern French cinema. They were then invited to compare the films to look at the characters, filming techniques, plot, and other aspects. One of the films was “La Haine”, a film that is part of the A-Level course. The students found the lecture remarkably interesting and will certainly help when completing questions about French cinema.
