Last Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome virtually through Zoom, David Dein MBE, to speak to all of our Year 12 students. David is the current Ambassador for the Premier League and International Ambassador for the Football Association. He is the co-founder of the Premier League, former co-owner and vice-chairman of Arsenal Football Club and former vice-chairman of the Football Association. David delivered some very important key messages to our students about the importance of hard work and application, and he also gave a fascinating insight into how the Premier League was founded and his role within this. David also discussed the use of modern technologies in football and how the game is changing, including the rising importance of women’s football. David also explained his philosophy in life: ‘My philosophy in life is to be like a turtle – if you want to get anywhere in life, you have to stick your neck out!’ David finished his presentation by answering questions from the students including his views on the European Super League and how money is changing the face of football. It was an absolute privilege for David to give up time in his busy schedule to talk to our students.
