Music

A level Music will provide students with the knowledge and experience required for all forms of further and higher education. It will give them understanding and encourage appreciation of all music genres in all contexts. Our revised GCSE Music specification will give students a life-long enjoyment and understanding of music as a listener or performer, at any level.

Entry Requirements

Grade 6 in GCSE Music or a BTEC Music at Level 2 Distinction and ABRSM Practical Exam Grade 5 and play a musical instrument.

Component 1: Appraising Music 40%

Section B: Analysis 

This section is based on the compulsory set works.

  • The Operas of Mozart 
  • Romantic Piano Music of Chopin, Brahms and Grieg 

Component 2: Performance 35% 

Component 3: Composition 25%
