Academic Record & Progression

It was another successful year for academic performance and progression, we are very proud of the students’ achievements and, as ever, it is great to see all their hard work and commitment rewarded.

2023 Outcomes

Results at Southmoor Academy Sixth Form have continued to be exceptional as grading moves back towards its pre-pandemic levels. There have been many happy faces and our students have some very exciting future destinations for them to be excited about. See for yourself in the video taken on results day 2023 below!

Academic Achievement
  •  Students achieving AAB or higher A Levels, including at least 2 facilitating subjects, significantly higher than local (9.3% higher) and national (3.5%) averages
  • Average grade per entry of grade B –  (Local Authority Average of C)
  • 88% of our students managing an A* – C grade in their subjects
  • Number A – B grades being 2.2% above the national average.

2023 Destinations

Our students from 2023 went on  to some truly amazing destinations at the UK’s top universities such as Oxford, Durham, Edinburgh, York, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield and plenty of others who have chosen to continue their studies right here in our city.

Destination Data (2021 Leavers)

Students reaching the end of 16 to 18 study in 2021 and staying in education or employment for at least 2 terms after this. This is revised data published in February 2024.

  • 79% of students in Year 13 progressed on to higher education.
  • 93% of students in Year 13 went on to higher education or employment.
