On Wednesday, Year 13 had the opportunity to get involved in a follow-up to the Pre-Driver workshops that they took part in during Year 12. We were delighted to welcome visitors from both the Tyne and Wear and Cleveland Fire Services and North East Ambulance Service into school to deliver a practical workshop with Year 13 about the being safe on the road once they have gained their driving licences. Sarah Schofield, from Tyne and Wear Fire Service, delivered an extremely important and informative presentation about road safety which included an interactive quiz.
After the presentation, students could then visit the different stations around the room to look more closely at driver safety, including taking part in a break reaction test, learning more about alcohol and driving, and using the VR headsets to simulate being on the road. We would like to thank the volunteers who gave up their time to come into school to work with our students on this very important topic.
