Dr David Honeywell delivered a lecture to our sociologists on the topic of prisons, punishment and education. He spoke about his own time in prison as a young man, describing the conditions he faced and comparing experiences in different institutions. His turning point was prison education; the catalyst for turning his life around. He now has a PhD and specialises in convict criminology.
After the lecture Dr Honeywell had some very positive comments towards our students:
“There were some good questions and they were all impeccably attentive. I think some of my undergraduate students could do with a lesson from your students on how to conduct themselves in class.”
