New Virtual Work Experience Opportunities:

The University of Hull’s Law School Virtual Conference – Wednesday 9th December, from 10.00 am to 12.45 pm

The conference will provide an opportunity for participants to explore a number of critical legal topics as well as gain some insight into life as a Law Student, and there will be opportunity for participants to ask any questions they may have for either academic staff or current Law Society students.  Professor Stephen Hardy, our newly appointed Dean of the Faculty of Business, Law and Politics, is himself a current tribunal judge and will be able to provide useful insight into employment law amongst other areas of expertise.

North East Ambition with the Careers and Enterprise Company are hosting a special programme for Years 12 and 13 students, giving you information about the full range of options that young people have once you finish in Sixth Form, including Degree Apprenticeships, Traineeships, Employment and Entrepreneurship. • STEM Careers Week – Between 7-11th December

Virtual STEM Careers and Skills Week – 20 online sessions with unlimited places at one of the world’s most prestigious science and engineering firms!

For students looking for an opportunity to find out more about careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Sustainability? Between 7-11th December, Speakers for Schools has partnered with one of the world’s biggest science and engineering firms, Johnson Matthey, to run a virtual skills and careers week. Each evening, scientists, engineers and other professionals from across the firm will be running a range of one-hour careers information events, including:

Finance; Law; Engineering; Tech Start-Ups; Scientific Research; Information Technology (IT); Graduate and Apprenticeship Schemes; Strategy and Business Development; Human Resources (HR)

They will also be offering skills sessions, helping students to understand the importance of the following skills for their own futures:

Job applications; Resilience; Communication; Problem solving; Sustainability; Social value of science; Biases and stereotypes; Career success; Career searching.


• Smart Futures

Smart Futures are now accepting applications for 2021. Smart Futures is a ten-month programme which starts with paid work experience and employability skills training in school holiday periods.  A mentor will support you throughout the programme to advise you on one of the biggest career choices you will make — the first step in your working life. You will be invited to a series of alumni events throughout your final year at school or college. You will learn about different industries and receive opportunities to practice your networking skills. You will gain a wide variety of transferable skills to give you a head start in your career. Smart Futures is formally recognised and approved by the Institute of Leadership and Management.
