The Department of Education have created a short explanation of how student loans work and what makes them different to traditional loans. It covers the types of loan available, how to apply for one and what happens with repayments including how they are calculated. The key things to remember, repayments are based on what you earn, not what you owe; you don’t make any repayments until you earn above the repayment threshold and there is a time-limit on all student loans after which they are automatically cancelled!
