Going for Gold in Northumberland

The Year 13 Duke of Edinburgh group have completed their Gold Practice Expedition which involved a physically arduous route along Hadrian’s Wall with the addition of unprecedented stormy weather. Well done!

A Level Art students visited The Baltic Gallery to take part in the ‘ARTiculation’ workshop which promotes the appreciation and discussion of art.

AS level photography students undertook a practical visit in Newcastle exploring the theme ‘Urban Environment’ to engage them through a creative experience exploring their own ideas and interpretations.

Refugee Reflections with Amnesty International

Amnesty International along with guest speaker Perse (a refugee originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo) ran a series of workshops for Year 12 students to give an overview of the refugee crisis.

Local History Speaks

Guest lecturer Dr Adrian Green from Durham University ran a seminar for Year 12 and 13 Historians entitled ‘The First Industrial Region’ which helped students realise the pivotal role of their home town.

Summer School at Oxford

A group of Year 13 students had the opportunity to take part in Oxford University’s OxNet Summer School where delegates from Southmoor and around the region travelled to Oxford to take part in the ‘Ordered Universe’ project. You can view student’s thoughts from the visit in this video.
